Editorial & Corrections Policy
1. Editorial Mission & Independence: Practicing Lawyer (practicinglawyer.in™) is an independent legal news and case-law analysis portal based in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Our objective is to provide accurate, timely, and technically rigorous coverage of judgments, orders, and statutory developments across the Supreme Court of India, High Courts, and specialized tribunals. Our editorial decisions are driven strictly by legal merit and public interest, independent of commercial or external influence.
2. Primary Sourcing & Verification Protocol Every case summary, bail update, and judgment analysis published on Practicing Lawyer undergoes a strict primary-source verification process prior to publication:
Direct Court Records: We do not publish reports on judicial orders based solely on secondary media rumours. Reports are drafted after verifying the official, certified order or judgment uploaded to the respective High Court, Supreme Court, or e-Courts portal.
Statutory & Citation Accuracy: Case titles, application numbers, coram (bench composition), and statutory provisions (such as the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, Income Tax Act, and Constitution of India) are cross-checked against the primary court record.
Distinction Between News and Opinion: Straight judicial reporting is kept strictly separate from analytical columns. Opinion pieces and procedural guides are explicitly categorized under the “Column” section and attributed to qualified legal practitioners.
3. Use of Technology & AI Assistance While technological tools may be utilized for grammar checking, formatting, or initial research indexing, every article published on Practicing Lawyer is researched, verified, structured, and reviewed by a human legal professional to ensure statutory precision and contextual accuracy.
4. Corrections & Updates Policy Practicing Lawyer is committed to complete factual transparency. If a substantive factual or citation error is identified after publication—either internally or via reader feedback—we adhere to the following protocol:
Review Window: Reported inaccuracies sent to
info@practicinglawyer.inare audited against the primary court record within 24 hours.Transparent Amendments: Minor typographical fixes may be made silently. Any substantive change to a legal provision, party name, or judicial holding is amended in the text and accompanied by an explicit “Correction/Update” note with a timestamp at the bottom of the article.
Subsequent Judicial Developments: If a reported High Court order is later stayed, modified, or overturned by a higher bench or the Supreme Court, we strive to update the original article or link to the subsequent ruling upon notification.
